Step 2.1: Assemble Mailbox Post and Arm
- Slide the Post Arm (B) down the Post (D) from the top as illustrated.
- Orient correctly to receive newspaper.
Step 2.2
- Align screw holes in post arm with screw holes in post and secure with (2) 1¼" Stainless Steel Screws (H) on both sides of the post.
Step 2.3
- Slide Post Trim Cap (C) into position under the post arm as illustrated.
- Install a 1¼" Stainless Steel Screw (H) beneath the post trim cap as illustrated to prevent it from sliding down the post.
Step 2.4
- Slide the Base Molding (F) up the post as illustrated.
Step 3.1: Install Pipe Anchor
- Using a sledgehammer, drive the Pipe Anchor (E) into the ground until the bottom of the plastic gear is just above the ground — this is the maximum depth.
- If your ground is too hard, drive the pipe anchor until it feels secure; in some ground conditions this could be as little as 18".
Note: Check that the pipe is level in both directions at about 6" intervals as you pound it into the ground. Usually, after the pipe is about 18" into the ground, the trajectory is established and cannot be straightened.
Step 3.2
- Once the pipe anchor has been installed, measure the distance from the ground to the middle of the top gear.
Note: You will need this measurement for the installation of screws in Step 4.2.
Step 3.3
Note: Step 3.3 is only to be completed if the pipe anchor is installed crooked.
- Use a level to adjust the bottom and top gears to ensure the post will be installed straight in Step 4.
Step 3.4
Note: Step 3.4 is only to be completed if the ground is dry and hard.
- Use a claw hammer to loosen 2" or 3" of dirt around the base of the pipe as illustrated to allow the external vinyl post to easily insert itself into the ground in Step 4.
Step 4.1: Install Mailbox Post Over Pipe Anchor
- Orient the post correctly and slide the assembled unit over the pipe anchor and at least 3" into the ground.
- Slide the base molding down to the ground as illustrated.
Step 4.2
- Fasten (2) 1" Stainless Steel Screws (G) through the back of the mailbox post as shown.
Note: The screws should be at the same height as previously measured in Step 3.2.
Step 4.3
- Install Post Cap (A) onto the top of the post and push down to lock it to the post.
